"Mike Leach"

After the firing of Mike Leach, I can say that I had some mixed emotions. As most of you know, I am not a fan of Leach or Tech, but now I must admit that I feel a little sorry for Mike. I think he took a bad rap for something that may not have ever happened. Whatever the story, this poem kind of sums it up. I dedicate this poem to my sister, Abby, a true Tech fan!! Hope you enjoy whether you like Leach, Tech, or neither!

Mike Leach

Texas Tech fired Mike Leach

Turns out he wasn’t such a peach.

Some say he was the greatest coach they ever had.

While others, well Leach just made them really mad.

People think Leach dished out lots of abuse,

And some same James was just Tech’s excuse.

His mouth said things that were so cruel;

He wouldn’t give James a chair or stool.

We’ll never know the whole true story,

And Leach will never get Rose Bowl glory.

He may have not gotten what he deserved,

And he probably has good reason to be perturbed.

Thanks to those who made this decision

For they have caused a lot of division.

Those Raiders will suffer this coming year.

Many will frown and yell and not cheer.

True fans will stand behind their team

And not make fun or be rude or mean.

What will happen to Mike Leach?

Who knows, he might wind up lying on a beach.

With lots of pay-off money in his hands

And his toes stuck in the beautiful white sands.
